Enefit has opened its first public charging stations in Latvia, strengthening its presence across the Baltics
Enefit has taken the next step in promoting eco-friendly mobility in the Baltics by opening its first public charging stations in Latvia in collaboration with the well-known retail chain Top!. With the launch of the new location, charging at Enefit Volt chargers is now available throughout the Baltics.
The new charging points are located at Top! supermarkets in Iecava, Dobele, Tukums, and Riga. A total of 13 semi-fast and fast chargers have been installed across seven different locations. By the end of the year, Enefit Volt plans to equip 20 Top! stores across Latvia with chargers, all powered by 100% green energy.
According to Kert Pääbo, Business Development Manager at Enefit Volt, entering the Latvian market is a logical and exciting next step. ‘This is not just about Enefit Volt expanding into a new market, but it also provides more opportunities for electric vehicle drivers who want to travel conveniently and sustainably to neighbouring countries. As a charging network developer, our goal is to offer electric vehicle owners greater freedom of movement and confidence in the availability of charging.’
The location of the chargers has been chosen with nearby apartment residents in mind, aiming to provide charging options for current electric vehicle owners and to encourage those considering purchasing an electric vehicle who have been hindered by a lack of charging infrastructure.
‘We have made it one of our focuses in all our home markets to set up charging stations near locations such as grocery stores, offices, or shopping centres. In other words, locations that offer the opportunity to combine two activities at once, such as shopping and charging your car, thereby helping to save time,’ said Pääbo.
Enefit aims to establish nearly 700 public charging stations across the Baltics and Poland by the end of 2025. Currently, the Enefit Volt public charging network consists of over 450 charging stations located in nearly 300 locations across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
‘To ensure not only the electrification of railways from Estonia to Germany through Rail Baltica, we are also establishing ultra-fast charging points for electric vehicles from Estonia to Poland, with a minimum total capacity of 640 kW. Additionally, 18 locations will be completed this year,’ Pääbo concluded.
Enefit Volt is Estonia’s largest electric vehicle charging network and is based entirely on green electricity. Enefit is looking for location partners to invest in charging solutions on their commercial properties and together provide the best charging options for customers.
